This will be complete with the traditional alap and jor on sitar, followed by vilambit and drut gats and jhalla with per- cussion. Roshni Samlal (tabla) is a New York–based tabla player who hails from the West Indies, where she was initiated into the ancient tradition of Indian classical music by her vocalist father. She has contin- ued her tutelage in the Benares style of tabla playing under Shri TapanModak and is currently a student of the epic Farukhbad exponent Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. Sitarist and composer Galen Passen is originally from upstate NY but lived in New Delhi, India for many years where he trained intensively in the study of Hindustani music under his Guru Gopal Krishan Shah.
