www.desitalk.com – that’s all you need to know 14 COVER STORY May 3, 2024 Tri-State Business Leaders Attend IAICC’s North-East Regional Chapter Meeting In New York City O ver 100 Indian American busi- ness executives from the New York tri-state region attended the North-East Regional Chapter meeting of the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce (IAICC) on April 25, 2024, in NewYork City. IAICC’s Executive Chairman & CEO, Appen Menon noted he was pleased to witness the turnout and caliber of attendees. According to Menon, IAICC has played a crucial role, for over three decades, in furthering policies aimed at enhancing collaboration between the United States and India in trade while aiding small business organizations and nurturing innovation initiatives. “India’s GDP is predicted to hit a five trillion-dollar mark within the next two years. India will become a major des- tination for multinational companies to manufacture their products. With a growing highly talented young popula- tion, India will attract manufacturers and service providers,” Menon added. “I am confident that US-India relationship will strengthen manyfold in the coming years. In the last century, India’s destiny was controlled by the circumstances, but going forward, India will control the circumstances. Let us play a key role in the growth and success of the economy of both the United States and India.” IAICC member Ashish Sanwal, com- mended Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of ParikhWorldwide Media and ITV Gold, who is also an Executive Board member of IAICC, for his “unwavering dedication to advocating for India and fostering strong ties between India and the US.” Lauding the work of IAICC, Dr. Parikh said, “I think this is a great platform. Vishnudatta Jayaraman in recognition of his accomplishments. Chauhan noted “On behalf of NewYork City Mayor, Eric Adams, I would like to honor T. Vishnudatta Jayara- man with this Citation for his outstanding service to the Indian-American community as well as his services to the Indian American International Chamber of Commerce [IAICC].” Jayaraman served as IAICC’s Communications Director from 2017-2021. Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of ParikhWorldwide Media and ITV Gold as well as a mem- ber of IAICC Executive Board, IAICC Executive Chairman & CEO, Appen Menon, IAICC Chairman of USA division, Shankar Rachakonda, and IAICC members Arpita Sriv- astava, and Supriya Doshi also joined Chauhan during the Citation presentation that took place at the IAICC’s North-East Regional Chapter meeting. The Citation stated Jayaraman made a “positive dif- ference” while noting “Since 2021, he has served as the Washington Bureau Chief andWhite House Correspon- dent for News India Times, part of ParikhWorldwide Me- dia, the largest Indian American publishing group in the United States. His articles also appear in Desi Talk New York, a weekly newspaper serving South Asian readers in the Tri-State area.” The Citation further added, “I applaud T. Vishnudatta for his contributions to the field of journalism, which is so vital to the strength of our democracy, as well his com- mitment to inform, engage, and empower our dynamic Indian American community. Now, therefore, I, Eric Adams, Mayor of the city of NewYork on Thursday, April 25, 2024, do hereby confer this citation on, T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, PhD.” On April 24, 2024, NewYork State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, the first Indian-American woman elected to NewYork State Office, also presented Jayara- man with a Proclamation from the State of NewYork. The Proclamation referred to Jayaraman as a “master wordsmith” further adding “Indian Americans enjoy con- tents from Dr. T.
